01) Nestl Brand Bedding Soft Sheets Set – Short Queen Sized

Editor Rating: 4.6 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

One point in favor of this RV sheet is that it fits any mattress eight to twelve inches deep, assuming you’re dealing with a short queen. These are the best rv sheets if your mattress is ten inches thick (or thicker).

The mattress sheets have stretchable elastic to help hold it in place, too. We’ll call it somewhat fitted. If the mattress is so large that the fitted sheets barely fit, the corners will tend to come off. That’s also a problem if the mattress is folded up.

The flat sheets are 99 inches by 90 inches, so they can fit larger RV mattresses if required. They resist wrinkles, if the sheets are tight enough. Avoid pulling unnecessarily on the rubber bands. They may break, and it is impossible to fix.

The gray sheets hide minor stains without making it hard to see the edge of the bed at night. Do not wash these sheets in harsh detergents or bleach. That will cause the color to fade or become uneven. It will lose a bright vibrant color rather quickly; that’s a different reason we recommended the gray sheets. A different problem is the occasional report that someone orders gray sheets and gets a black or dark grey pillow case.

You get two pillowcases as well as sheets. The pillow cases themselves are twenty by thirty inches. That means the pillow cases will fit almost any pillow.

It uses microfiber material

The microfiber material is soft on both sides. This means you don’t have to worry about installing it the right way. The material resists piling and snagging, so it won’t become rough until it has been through the washing machine many times. However, the material is not as soft as the manufacturer says it is. It isn’t “silky”.

The sheets have an average level of softness. Unlike some materials, the roughness will get worse with future washings, once the problem occurs. Wash on the gentle cycle and dry on delicate to minimize this problem.

Pros
  • Fits deep RV mattresses
  • A full sheet set
Cons
  • Not as soft as advertised
  • Not color fast

02) SGI Brand Short Queen Sheets - Sheet Set for Short Queen Mattress, Taupe, Deep Pocket

Editor Rating: 4.5 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

This is a four piece mattress set. You get two sets of sheets and two pillow cases. The flat sheet is 90 inches by 102 inches. The fitted sheet is 60 inches by 75 inches. The pillow cases are 20 inches by 30 inches.

One point in favor of these RV sheets is that they’re designed for thick RV mattresses. Another benefit of the deep pockets is that it helps hold the sheet in place as you toss and turn.

Unlike gray or beige sheets, these sheets are taupe or a light orange-gold.

One downside of these sheets is that they are relatively thin. It is enough to reduce heat retention on a foam mattress but won’t do much to protect the mattress itself.

The manufacturer, SGI Bedding, does make these same sheets in a dozen other colors, including black and grey. That does mean they occasionally ship sheets and pillow cases that are not exactly the same shade. That is rare.

Is SGI made by Egyptian cotton?

The sheets are not Egyptian cotton, though they are cotton. This means that they are not as soft as that material. The thread count is middling. That means that the material tends to pile, especially if you wash it on a standard wash cycle. If you do that, it may start to “pile” or form balls of material after just three cycles. Wash it on gentle and dry on delicate to extend their life.

Using fabric softener makes it softer, but it won’t eliminate the piles that have formed. In short, fabric softener makes it softer but it will not make it smoother. Then the sheets will tend to stick to everything. When this happens, the sheets are more prone to ripping.

What are the Upsides?

The cotton material is cooler than sheets made from artificial fabrics. The fact that it is made from cotton makes it more environmentally friendly, as well. These sheets are pet safe. They won’t release chemicals into your sleeping area. They let the bed breathe a little, so you won’t have a serious problem with heat retention due to the sheets.

A side benefit of this brand is that they make sheets for the rarer sizes of RV mattresses. For example, they make sheets specifically for the three quarter mattress and short king RV mattress size as well as the RV king and short queen.

These may be the best rv sheets for these less common sizes, since they offer reasonable performance at a price better than the RV manufacturer would charge you.

Pros
  • Beautiful color
  • Fits large, deep RV mattresses
Cons
  • Not as soft as advertised
  • Harder to care for than average

03) Rajlinen Brand 400 Thread Count Cotton Sheet Set (60X75)

Editor Rating: 4.4 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

These mattresses are designed for RV mattresses 60x75 inches. This particular sheet by Rajlinen will fit a mattress up to 13 inches deep. That’s two inches less than the manufacturer says these sheets can handle.

You get two bed sheets and two pillow covers. We’re recommending the Taupe color. The deep orange-brown color adds a bit of color to the bed while still hiding sweat stains and debris.

We aren’t certain the material is Egyptian cotton. The material is somewhat soft, but it will become rough after many passes through the washing machine.

These sheets do not tend to pile like some other RV bed sheets. However, they do tend to shrink if washed in hot water.

Only wash them in cold water. Do not use bleach. Only dry on a delicate cycle. There are some complaints about the sheets smelling after you get them, but this depends on the color of dye used.

The quality of the stitching is average to below average. Sometimes the pillow cases are not sewn correctly. The uneven edge or straight edge that isn’t parallel to the top of the pillow means you can’t iron it flat.

Pros
  • Don’t pile like other RV sheets
  • Somewhat soft
Cons
  • May shrink
  • Not really Egyptian cotton

04) 1500 Supreme Collection by Sweet Home Collection, RV Queen Size, Gray

Editor Rating: 4.5 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

This set of sheets for RV queen sized mattresses is designed to be soft. The 1500 thread count is incredibly high given this product class. The neat stitching is elegant.

However, they are not double stitched. The stitching can come undone under stress or if someone picks at it.

We’re recommending the grey ones for several reasons. The neutral color fits into any décor. Yet it hides minor stains and dirt, problems you’re more likely to encounter in an RV than you would in your home.

However, the manufacturer makes these sheets in more than forty colors.

A side benefit of this home goods manufacturer’s line is that you could put the same sheets on your RV bed as you have on your twin, queen or king sized bed at home. That can reduce the confusion and anxiety in both pets and young children, when you try to get them to sleep in an RV bed.

The sheets don’t need to be ironed. However, they can only be washed in cold water. Don’t ever add bleach. There are occasional complaints that the sheets smell bad when new. That can be solved by washing it with good soap.

The sheets are fitted, but this is where the quality is lacking. The elastic is floating in that single stitched edge. And pulling on it too hard can cause it to come out. The elastic is not secure inside the fitted sheet, though you want it to stay securely in place so that the sheet itself does.

There are some reports that the customer received 14 inch sheets while the product is a 16 inch sheet. That problem lies with the distributor.

Pros
  • High thread count
  • Incredibly soft
Cons
  • Poor quality stitching, especially around the elastic

05) RV Short Queen Indigo Batik Sheets by California Design Den

Editor Rating: 4.6 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

This four piece set from California Design Den includes sheets and pillow cases. The rich indigo color adds a touch of class to the average RV. The material is one hundred percent cotton, so it won’t have any odd chemical odor.

The material also breathes well. That makes this an ideal choice for covering memory foam mattresses or when sleeping in hot climates.

The sheets are designed to fit any sixteen inch deep pocket mattress. It is specifically made for the best short queen RV mattress. It is a fitted sheet, so it will stay in place.

The manufacturer added “smart tags” to help you know which way the sheets should be to simplify putting them on the bed.

These mattress sheets are easy to care for. They can be washed in cold water, and they’re safe to run through the dryer on low heat. You can use an iron on them, but they don’t have to be ironed. Do not use bleach with them if you want to keep the deep color.

The stitching on these sheets are better than average. For example, they rarely start to come undone. It will keep the elastic securely in place, too. In rare cases, the stitched seams are off-center. That problem is more commonly found on the pillow cases.

The manufacturer says they won’t lose their soft texture with repeated washing. However, repeated washing can cause them to become abrasive, and that cannot be corrected when it occurs. You can reduce the risk of this happening by using fabric softener and not leaving it in the dryer too long.

The sheets themselves are not as silky and smooth as the manufacturer says.

Pros
  • User friendliness
  • Breathable material
  • Odorless
Cons
  • Can become abrasive

06) SGI Bedding Brand 600 Thread Count Cotton RV King Size Bed Sheets

Editor Rating: 4.4 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

These are probably the best RV sheets for those who have an RV king sized bed. You get a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillow case.

The corner pockets are unusually big, so they’ll fit on RV mattresses anywhere from 12 to 16 inches deep. These are the best RV sheets when you don’t know how thick your mattress cover needs to be.

This is another case where we’re recommending the gray RV sheets for simplicity, though the manufacturer offers them in half a dozen colors. It won’t show every minor stain or dust. The Egyptian cotton is world-renowned for its softness.

Interestingly, this contributes to them getting softer over time instead of rougher. That means the SGI brand RV bed sheets can remain comfortable enough to sleep on for years.

For example, they don’t shrink over time, and the color rarely fades. Unfortunately, they are prone to tearing and ripping, especially if you pull hard on it. Be careful as you put it on your RV mattress. The stitching isn’t as durable as expected, either.

We’re recommending the dark grey version because you won’t notice any color fading if it does occur, just as you won’t notice little stains or discolorations. However, you cannot wash it in bleach. Avoid harsh detergents or it will discolor.

Running through the dryer for a long time or washing with harsh soaps can make the material rough, too. The pilling is something you can’t correct for once it occurs.

Pros
  • Soft Egyptian cotton
  • Deep corner pockets
Cons
  • Prone to tearing
  • Must be careful how you wash it

07) Sweet Home Collection Brand 6 Piece 1500 Thread Count Sheets for RV Short Queen, Navy

Editor Rating: 4.4 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

You can find plenty of queen and king sized mattresses. RV queen and king sized mattresses have different dimensions. Short queen mattresses for RV beds may be several inches shorter and/or narrower, as well.

We list this Sweet Home Collection sheet set because it is designed specifically for short queen RV beds.

One point in favor of this product is that you get two extra pillow cases that match everything else on and around your RV mattress. That makes this the best RV sheet set for the price, since it has the greatest overall value.

The deep navy blue color is stylish, but it can hide dirt and stains, as well. It won’t fade to an off color after a few washes.

The biggest complaint about these sheets is that the manufacturer advertises them as 1500 thread count sheets, when they clearly are not. The thread count is probably less than 300. They’re somewhat soft sheets, but they are not as soft as you’d expect because you think you’re buying something with five times as many threads per inch.

These sheets are not cotton. They are made out of polyester. This can create a mild chemical smell. More importantly, it alters the softness and breathability of the sheets. Don’t use these RV sheets in hot, humid climates. And don’t ever smoke in bed around these sheets.

The material is thin. This may not offer the level of protection people expect with fitted sheets. However, if protection is a concern, go with a full mattress protector instead. We recommend one later on in this article.

Pros
  • Good overall value
  • Color-fast
  • Fits short queen mattresses
Cons
  • Made from plastic microfiber when they promise Egyptian cotton
  • Poor quality stitching

08) UltraPlush Premium Waterproof Mattress Protector by UltraBloc

Editor Rating: 4.3 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

This mattress protector is first and foremost a mattress protector designed for short queen RV mattresses. The 60 inch by 75 inch waterproof protector is unusual in that it is designed to be soft and comfortable, as well. It is as if you have an added layer of soft sheets on top of the mattress.

This is the best RV sheet available if you want to minimize the number of layers on the mattress itself. It protects against dust mites and allergens as well as accidents. And you can put sheets and blankets on top of it, too.

The only complaint here is that the manufacturer advertises it as 100 percent water proof. In fact, they say that the mattress cover could get submerged and still protect the mattress.

The reality is that it resists water and pee, but these liquids can soak through if left on the mattress for hours. Know that you do need to clean up these things, but the risk to the mattress is lower than if you have polyester or cotton sheets. If the mattress is flooded, this can actually cause problems like the mattress cover trapping in moisture until it fills with mold.

The mattress cover is made from non-allergenic material that is safe and non-toxic. It won’t emit chemical odors in your sleeping area. It doesn’t contain vinyl, PVCs or phthalates. More importantly, it protects the mattress from dust mites, mold and mildew.

One problem with the material is that it holds body heat. That makes this a bad choice for those who live in hotter climates. A different issue is how much it can slide around on the mattress. If you toss and turn, the mattress sheet may shift around you, and that can even leave wrinkles until you fix it.

Pros
  • Incredible level of protection from spills and messes
  • Best choice for those with allergies
Cons
  • Retains body heat
  • Slippery and prone to sliding

09) Nestl Brand RV/Short Queen Bed Sheets Set, Deep Pockets, Fitted Sheet, Microfiber, Teal Color

Editor Rating: 4.5 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

Microfiber has its pros and cons. It isn’t as soft as cotton, but it can be more durable. Poorly made microfiber may pill or form rough areas. Yet cheap cotton blankets with a low thread count may do that, too.

One point in favor of microfiber is that no one is allergic to it. It is also more breathable than other fabrics, including heavy cotton sheets. That’s one reason why we’re suggesting these RV sheets by Nestl in contrast to the many cotton sheets used for RV mattresses.

We’re recommending the four piece set over the six piece offered by Nestl. It gives you a fitted sheet and top sheet along with two pillow cases.

The teal blue sheets are our recommended color. They’re dark enough to hide sweat stains and other minor issues, but it is colorful enough to brighten up the average bedroom. However, the manufacturer does make these sheets in more than twenty colors. The colors will fade is washed with harsh detergents or bleach.

Sometimes, the pillows and sheets are slightly different shades out of the box.

How much mattress will it cover?

The sheets can cover a ten inch deep mattress. The fitted sheet is 60 inches by 75 inches. The pillow cases are 20 inches by 30 inches. One problem with these sheets is that the pockets are advertised as ten inches deep but are too tight for that. It is a better choice for a nine inch thick mattress.

The fabric is soft. It is thin. That means you can feel and see the mattress surface under the sheets. Yet the sheets do a surprisingly good job of trapping body heat. The material has a slight chemical smell, as well. That’s a little worse for the blue sheets. Washing it reduces this issue.

Is the fabric rough?

The fabric is not rough, but the material traps pet hair. You can’t just wash it or vacuum it. You have to use lint rollers. They also generate a lot of static. On the other hand, the fabric is non-allergenic. It is unlikely to trap dirt, dust or pollen.

Pros
  • Soft
  • Warm
  • Non-allergenic
Cons
  • Thin material
  • Not as deep as advertised
  • Traps pet hair

10) Cottington Lane Brand 400 Thread Count Sheets RV King Sheets, Up to 15 Inch Deep Pocket, Breathable Bed Sheets, White

Editor Rating: 4.3 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

These are the best rv sheets for either very deep RV mattresses or mattresses covered with several layers of toppers. We’re recommending the RV king mattresses.

The manufacturer also makes them in king, queen, short queen and California King sizes. They even offer a separate king sized pillow cases. (That’s sold separately from the sheet sets like the one we’re recommending.)

One frequently reported problem is quality control; sometimes the manufacturer ships you king and queen sized items in the same lot, or you may order an RV king sheet and get a standard king sheet.

These Cottington Lane brand sheets are breathable. This is partially because the sheets are so thin. On the other hand, this means the sheets allow you to feel the mattress surface through the sheets.

These sheets are not “sateen”. They’re not glossy. They are not silky. They’re somewhat smooth. They are not durable. Too hard of a pull will rip it. They’re not 400 count sheets. They’re prone to wrinkling. You can solve that by ironing them. Do not wash them unless the washer is on a gentle cycle. In a worst case scenario, washing it on a cottons / towels cycle will leave holes in it.

The material can fade on exposure to sunlight. It will discolor if you wash it with bleach. This means you need to take extra care to maintain the original color.

Pros
  • Covers the thickest mattresses
  • Available in almost any size – including for pillows
  • Breathable
Cons
  • Not as soft as advertised
  • Thin material
  • Prone to rips and holes

11) AB Lifestyles Brand RV Camper King 72x80 Sheet Set, No Tuck, 300 TC

Editor Rating: 4.2 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

These sheets are made for 72 inch by 80 inch mattresses. These RV sheets don’t need to be tucked in on mattresses up to eight inches deep.

(The manufacturer says they can fit mattresses up to 16 inches deep, but that isn’t the case.) They’re made to be open sheets. This can be great for tall people and those who toss and turn. For those who care, it is made in the United States.

The thread count of these AB Lifestyles sheets is officially 300. This contributes to them pilling within a few weeks, creating a somewhat rough surface.

It will get worse over time. They’re not one hundred percent cotton. That doesn’t affect the texture much, but that can be an issue for some customers.

The caramel color hides stains well, but it isn’t a dull brown color. The yellow-brown tint blends in with almost any décor. The material is rather thin. This makes them lightweight and allows the mattress to breathe. On the other hand, they aren’t as durable, either. Instead, these are among the best rv sheets for those on a budget.

These sheets need to be machined washed on a gentle cycle. They can be tumble dried. Do not dry them on a hot cycle unless you want to risk shrinkage. However, this is far better than some sheets that are at risk of shrinking any time you wash and dry them.

Pros
  • Can be machine washed and dried
  • Open sheets
Cons
  • Thin material
  • Pilling starts almost immediately

12) Italian Collection Brand 4 Piece Sheet Set, RV/Short Queen – Grey

Editor Rating: 4.3 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

The stripped gray design adds a touch of class in a product class defined by single-color products. Note that this is only a four piece set of sheets, including two pillow cases.

These sheets are made from microfiber. The microfiber is brushed on both sides to make it soft no matter how you lay it down.

The material will not cause allergic reactions. It is lightweight, so it will allow your skin to breathe as you lay underneath them. The sheets are very smooth. They don’t trap pet hair.

One issue with these RV sheets by Italian Collection is that the elastic is loose in the sheet. That makes it difficult to put on the mattress, and it contributes to the sheets shifting when you’re in bed.

In a worst case scenario, the sheet will not stay on the bed. That problem is worse with thicker mattresses. However, the elastic does go all the way around the mattress. That means that it will hold the bottom sheet in place if it fits your mattress.

What's about the manufacture?

The manufacturer is Italian Collection, but they are made in China. This may or may not explain why the flat sheet doesn’t always meet the dimensions listed on the package. For example, you might get a flat sheet an inch or two too short. If you wash the material in hot water, it may shrink further.

The product is listed as having a 1500 thread count. That is a lie. It is more likely 300 threads. This means it isn’t as soft or durable as promised. It is described as being similar to Egyptian, harkening back to world-class Egyptian cotton. (It isn’t Egyptian cotton. It isn’t even cotton.)

A small issue is there

A minor issue is the description of the colors. For example, someone ordering bright green may get darker sage green. On the other hand, these sheets are not prone to color fading, whether due to exposure to the sun or harsh laundry soap.

Pros
  • Two-tone color scheme
  • Smooth
Cons
  • Loose elastic can cause it to shift or come off
  • Dimensions and color descriptions often inaccurate

13) Rajlinen Brand Cotton Sheets, RV-King 4 Piece Bed Sheet Set, 15 inches Deep Pocket, Navy Blue

Editor Rating: 4.1 Out of 5

Price: Check on Amazon

Rajlinen offers queen, short queen, king and RV king linens. In this case, we’re recommending their navy blue RV king sheet set. Occasionally, the fitted sheet doesn’t match the size that is listed on the packaging.

Note that you’re getting sheets, not a comforter or full bedding set.

These sheets by Rajlinen are not one hundred percent cotton. They have a minor amount of artificial fibers that give it a modest sheen. It does not have a 800 thread count. It is more like 250 to 300 threads of square inch.

They can be machine washed and dried. However, they do tend to wrinkle. Do not wash them in hot water; they tend to shrink. And a major problem with these sheets is that the color tends to bleed if you wash it in warm water, so don’t wash it with anything else.

On the other hand, they are not prone to shrinking just because you washed and/or dried them.

They can be ironed to eliminate wrinkles. Even the pillow cases can be ironed, though the double bottom makes that more difficult than average.

Pros
  • Available in a variety of sizes
  • Can be machine washed and ironed
Cons
  • Not Egyptian cotton, and not the thread count that’s promised
  • Tendency to shrink even if the right size
  • Not color fast

What is the Best RV Sheet?

The simplest explanation is that RV sheets are sheets made to fit RV beds. For example, RV queen and RV king beds are slightly smaller than the standard king and queen bed. This is also true of “full” mattresses.

A standard full sized mattress is 54 inches x 75 inches. The standard RV full is 53 inches x 75 inches. The standard queen mattress 60 inches x 80 inches. An RV queen mattress may be 60 x 80 inches, but the short queen mattresses common in RVs are 60 inches x 75 inches or even 74 inches long.

The standard king mattress is 76 inches x 80 inches. The typical RV king mattress is 72 inches x 75 inches. RV bunk mattresses come in a wide range of sizes. RV bunk mattress range from 28 to 42 inches wide. (The 42 inch wide mattresses are found in the overhead storage / sleeping compartment of RVs.

The RV bunk mattress could be anywhere from 75 to 80 inches, but 75 inches is the most common mattress length. For comparison, the average twin size bed is 39 inches x 75 inches. This means that RV bunk mattress sheets for bunk beds are prone to being loose but may be too narrow.

How does the Best RV Sheet work?

The average RV sheets go on your bed the same way other bed sheets do. The biggest difference is that the RV mattress is shorter than the average mattress, while the typical RV mattress is an inch or more narrower, too. This increases the odds of the mattress shifting around and forming uncomfortable creases.

RV mattresses are not always more water-resistant than standard mattress sheets. Others are made to seal in the mattress from dirty, dander and debris because they need to protect the mattress from the stuff tracked in by active campers.

However, that depends on the particular RV sheet you buy. You’re more likely to find RV sheets that double as a mattress protector, but always read the product specifications.

In General

You generally don’t want to put full sized sheets on your RV mattress. That is because they are prone to shift around. This is true if the mattress sheets are fitted or not, since putting a larger mattress sheet on a smaller one cannot wrap tightly around the mattress.

A different problem you may run into with RV mattresses is when the bed is an unusual shape. For example, some beds and their associated mattress have rounded corners. That’s often the case for the Airstream trailer. These custom sizes may require buying custom RV sheets, or you can modify existing RV mattress sheets to secure it.

Why do You want RV mattress sheets?

One is to protect the foam mattress from moisture, bugs and debris. The sheets aren’t as effective as a plastic mattress protector, but it will mean you don’t have to clean the mattress as often. By reducing wear and tear on the mattress surface, it won’t break down as fast.

You probably won’t reduce the odor from an outgassing memory foam mattress. If you have a box spring mattress in the RV, sheets will reduce the ability to feel the ridges in the mattress cover as well as protect the surface from stains. For example, the sheets will prevent the mattress from developing sweat stains, though it may not prevent pee and other biological stains from reaching the mattress surface.

Don’t use mattress sheets to prevent contact with a latex mattress if you’re allergic to latex; get a different type of mattress. If you aren’t allergic to latex, the sheets will help prevent the latex from breaking down or discoloring. It will change color and break down faster on exposure to sunlight and body heat.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

01. How long should an RV sheets be?

There are two different answers depending on which sheet you’re talking about. The flat sheet is the one that covers the entire mattress and drapes over the sides. The fitted sheet is as large as the surface of the mattress but has a pocket depth that should be similar to the thickness of the mattress.

How does this affect the dimensions of an RV sheet? The standard twin mattress is 38 by 75 inches. The twin flat sheet is roughly 70 inches by 100 inches. The average fitted sheet for this mattress is 39 or 40 inches by 14 inches.

For a standard queen bed, the mattress itself is 60 inches by 80 inches, while the flat sheet is 90 inches by 110 inches. The fitted sheet would be 73 by 80 by 15 inches.

Always check second time

RV mattresses tend to be shorter than standard beds. When you use a fitted sheet for these standard beds, you get more slack and a greater potential for wrinkles. It also means you need to be careful of the mattress depth. While a mattress in your bedroom may be 15 inches thick, the mattress in your RV may be as thin as 8 inches.

Verify that the RV sheets match both the surface and depth of your mattress, no matter what type of RV mattress you have.

02. How do you maintain RV sheets?

The simplest answer is to wash them. If you’re sleeping on them every night, they should be washed weekly. If you’re only sleeping in the RV on weekends, wash the sheets at least once a month. If you have a pet sleeping with you, you may want to wash them more often to limit the build-up of pet fur in the bed.

They should also be washed the day after they’re stained, whether your child had an accident or someone sweated heavily at night. This prevents the stain from seeping into the mattress.

It also prevents the bedroom from becoming a breeding ground for bacteria. Wash the sheets if one of you has a contagious illness to minimize spreading it to the other.

How to wash sheets generally?

The sheets generally need to be washed on a gentle cycle with laundry soap but not bleach or harsh detergents. The ability to use fabric softener depends on the material the sheets are made out of.

In general, the RV sheets should be dried in the dryer without the heat turned on. At most, gentle heat can be used. RV sheets are notorious for shrinkage, and they’re much harder to get on the mattress once that happens.

Hot water makes the sheets unusable

Unfortunately, this means that washing the sheets in hot water to kill dust mites may make the sheets unusable, unless you have open sheets. The alternative is to hang them in sunlight for several hours.

Another option is ironing. This will help sanitize them. We do not recommend steaming RV sheets, because this is likely to cause shrinkage.

03. How often do you need to change RV sheets?

All sheets need to be replaced periodically. Always replace the sheets if the RV sheets are severely stained. Replace them if you have bed bugs. If the RV has flooded, replace the sheets.

We’d recommend replacing the sheets when they start to “pill”, because they’ll typically just get rougher with each subsequent washing. And the sheets should always be replaced every two to three years, since the material will break down.

04. What sizes are RV sheets?

The most popular RV bed sizes are short queen, RV king, RV full and RV queen. The short queen mattress is always 60 inches wide but may be 74 or 75 inches long.

The RV queen mattress is 60 inches by 80 inches. The RV king mattress is always 72 inches wide, but it may be 75 or 80 inches long.

The RV sheets you buy need to cover this surface area, but they must also have enough depth to cover the sides of the mattress. This could be anywhere from six to fifteen inches, though ten to twelve inches is the norm.

05. How many sizes are there in an RV sheets?

The most common sizes of RV sheets are RV queen, RV king, and short queen. You can find RV sheets in these three sizes relatively easily. It is harder to find sheets to fit RV full or RV bunk mattresses.

In these cases, you may need to use a truck mattress sheet.

06. How to clean an rv sheets like a pro

Cleaning RV sheets is relatively easy. Take it off your bed. Shake it outside, if you’ve tracked dirt and debris into your bed. Wash it in a washing machine with cold water and gentle detergent. Either dry it on an air-only cycle or use a clothes line. Ironing is rarely necessary, unless you want to get the wrinkles out or need to sterilize the material.

If you have a child or pet who tends to wet the bed, layer the sheets to minimize the risk of the material reaching the mattress. Realize that this adds to the amount of laundry you’ll need to do. If this is a common problem, get a mattress protector.

If you then need to wash the sheets due to someone’s mess, clean the mattress protector with bleach water, household cleaner or a mix of baking soda and vinegar. Make certain the mattress cover is dry before you put the sheets back on.

07. What are RV sheets made of? Are RV sheets waterproof?

The most common materials used in making RV sheets are cotton, polyester and a blend of the two. Most RV sheets are not water proof. Sheets that are mostly or entirely cotton aren’t even water-resistant.

In these cases, you need a mattress protector under the sheets. If the mattress protector is ripped on the side you sleep on, replace it.
